Driving Forward the Uptake of e-Health with a New Network for European Co-operation; The European Commission adopted a Decision establishing an eHealth Network, as foreseen by the Directive (2011/24/EU) on Patients’ Rights in Cross-border Healthcare. For the first time, EU legislation includes provisions on eHealth with clear objectives to find modern, innovative solutions for providing better and safer healthcare for all Europeans.

Philips and VU University Medical Center Amsterdam Sign Agreement for PET/MR Scanner; Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) and the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam (the Netherlands) have signed an agreement to install one of Philips’ highly innovative Ingenuity TF PET/MR (Time-of-Flight Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance) scanners at the center.

Internet pharmacies demonstrated potential early on as a hub within a wider set of eHealth services, but has since been mired in doubts regarding transparency, fraud, product quality, and even its viability as an ethical business model.
